Situation
Hotel Pleasant View is a premier luxury boutique hotel located in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, offering refined interiors, cozy guest suites, and warm hospitality. Despite having top-tier facilities—including a pristine swimming pool, in-house bar and restaurant, laundry facilities, and free railway/airport transport—the hotel struggled with its digital distribution model.
Practically all reservations were driven by third-party Online Travel Agencies (OTAs) such as MakeMyTrip, Agoda, and Booking.com. This came with two primary drawbacks:
- Exorbitant commission fees: OTAs charged between 15% and 25% on every booking, eating away at net profit margins.
- Lack of guest ownership: The hotel could not access guest contact details, email addresses, or preferences before arrival, preventing personalized hospitality and follow-up marketing.
The hotel needed a digital flag of its own—a premium, fast website that could build trust, rank in local search queries, and drive direct, commission-free reservations.
Task
The management team at Hotel Pleasant View tasked Vellumarc with three core objectives:
- Design a Premium Digital Showcase: The site needed to reflect the luxurious interiors, comfort, and premium amenities of the property (free pickup/drop, high-speed Wi-Fi, swimming pool, EV charging, laundry, and dining).
- Direct Booking Engine: Integrate a frictionless, mobile-first booking widget allowing guests to check room availability, view amenities, and book directly.
- Local SEO Authority: Optimize the website to rank for traveler queries regarding accommodation in Raebareli and surrounding districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Action — Designing a Luxury Experience
To project the refined aesthetic of the hotel, we designed a dark, modern interface with warm gold accents. The design focuses on high-resolution, scroll-revealed imagery of the rooms and common spaces, giving users a true feel of the property before booking.
We structured the details cleanly, categorizing the six core amenities into interactive, card-based layouts:
- Pick Up & Drop: Showcasing free station/airport transfers in well-maintained vehicles.
- High Speed Wi-Fi: Highlighting connectivity in guest rooms and public spaces.
- EV Charging Station: Catering to the eco-conscious traveler with fast, on-site chargers.
- Laundry: Introducing efficient professional cleaning services.
- Swimming Pool: Displaying the pristine leisure pool with sun loungers.
- Bar & Restaurant: Showcasing gourmet meals and mixology cocktails crafted from locally sourced ingredients.
Each amenity was highlighted with clean, modern iconography and micro-animations, ensuring the page feels premium and responsive.
Action — Engineering the Booking Widget
The cornerstone of the platform is the custom Booking Engine. Using Next.js Server Actions and standard API routes, we implemented a real-time availability calendar:
- Date Range Selection: Guests select their check-in and check-out dates.
- Room Selection: Displays different categories of suites with live pricing and dynamic availability.
- Payment Integration: Integrated a secure Razorpay checkout for Indian credit/debit cards, UPI, Netbanking, and Stripe for international travelers, facilitating advance booking deposits.
- Instant Confirmation: Auto-sends confirmation receipts via WhatsApp and email, reducing the administrative workload at the reception desk.
To prevent cart abandonment, we set up a automated WhatsApp trigger that follows up with users who drop off at the checkout step.
Key Technical Decisions
- Next.js & Vercel: We opted for a Server-Side Rendered (SSR) Next.js structure to ensure instant page load speeds, which is crucial for travelers booking rooms on spotty 4G connections.
- Tailwind CSS & Framer Motion: Allowed us to craft responsive room-scrolling galleries and smooth transition effects that perform beautifully on all mobile browsers.
- Local Structured Data: Implemented
HotelandLocalBusinessschemas in JSON-LD, notifying Google of room availability, physical address, ratings, and contact info, which improved local map rankings.
Results
Since the launch of the new direct-booking website:
- 3× increase in direct, commission-free bookings compared to previous direct phone-call enquiries.
- 4.8/5 guest rating sustained with integrated feedback collection.
- 20% average increase in room profit margins due to reduced reliance on commission-heavy OTA channels.
- Lighthouse score of 98+ for performance, accessibility, and SEO.
